Ana C. Marques graduated in Materials Engineering at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, University of Lisbon, 2000) and holds a Ph.D. in Materials Sci. & Eng. (IST, 2005) with a strong focus on sol-gel processing. After her Ph.D. she worked as a Post-Doc at IST and Lehigh University (USA), before joining Dow Corning in Belgium, where she worked as an R&D Chemist for more than 3 years. Ana Clara is based at IST, since 2017, as Assistant Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department, giving lectures of Materials Engineering, Polymeric Materials and Chemical Product Design Engineering courses.

Her main current research interest is the development of eco-innovative materials, in particular of a Technology Platform on Microencapsulation and Immobilization. She joins our group in the framework of her sabbatical leave (Scientific Exchange Grant from SNF) to work on the application of tailored porous microspheres as supports for metal oxide nanoparticles, with a target on photocatalytic reactions in liquid phase.
